In Fars, my name means love. My full name is Mahboobeh . I love my name because it carries a beautiful meaning, but it is difficult for people in Chicago to pronounce. Most of my friends and my family call me Mahee because it is short and easy to say. My name does not have a special history, but it has become a big part of my life.

My father gave me the name Mahboobeh because he wanted me to always remember love. When people ask me about my name, I explain that it comes from Iranian culture. Even though my name is long, I like it very much because in Iranian culture long names often have deep and meanings. My name connects me to my family, my tradition, and the values of love and respect that are important in our culture. In Arabic, Urdu, and Turkish, Mahboobeh means someone who is loveable. I am happy that it also means love in other language.

Sometimes people smile when I tell them the meaning of my name. They say it is a very nice and sweet meaning. I feel happy I hear that. Names are important because they tell a story about where people come from. At the end, I am always Mahee, and in my heart, Mahboobeh means love.
