My last name is Kuang(邝), and it is from my father’s side. I did not like my last name as I was growing up. Kuang is an ancient and uncommon surname. I did not have a very good relationship with my father’s side because I found out that they were not that friendly to my mother, and my father is a very lazy and irresponsible person. He could not protect her. This is the reason why I do not like my last name. However, I like my first name that is Yingyu(颖瑜). It means intelligent and kind. It is two characters in Chinese, and they both start with the letter Y. The letter Y is where my nickname came from. My nickname is Yliana. Before I picked this name, people used to call me Ying, but in English people did not pronounce this name the right way. Although I was used to it, I was also tired of it. Therefore, before this semester began, I found my nickname from Google or ChatGPT. I tried to find a name that started letter Y at first, but they were just so common in English. Then, I started to ask ChatGPT “give me some English names that have a similar meaning to the Chinese name Yingyu(颖瑜).” It gave many examples, but I thought they were too popular. I wanted my name to be easy to pronounce and unique. After searching for a while, I saw the name Liana at first, and it has a meaning of vitality. It symbolizes to keep going and never give up. I wanted to be that kind of person too. Finally, I added a letter Y to the front because it is a part of my name, and I love it. This is how I got my nickname Yliana. It is special and easy for people to pronounce.
