The French Name

Mireille is a religious name with religious meaning that is miracle. Life is a miracle because God is the one who gives it. When a child is born there is a joy that people feel that cannot be expressed with words, and it doesn't matter if you are a religious person or not you still experience that. Because it is a miracle.

My grandfather in my mother's side, he was a missionary minister, and he traveled a lot with the family. Zaire at that time now called Republic of Congo was one of the countries he used to go with the family. My mom's best friend parent was a minister kid as well and both travelled to republic of Congo at the same time. Congo is a French speaking country, that's where my mom learned that name and she was fascinated by it. Before I was born my mother and her best friend agreed that when they had their first child, they would name the child Mireille. The time passed and my and her best friend got married and got pregnant almost at the same time. They said that it didn't matter if the baby was girl or boy, they would still name the baby Mireille, but both of them knew that the name was a girl's name.

When my mom gave birth to me, she was happy to give me that name because I was born girl, but her best friend ended up having a boy, but still gave the same name to her child just the way they had agreed,

Unfortunately, my mom's best friend son and I didn't have close relationships like our mothers did because we didn't grow up in the same city, mom's best friend relocated to the province, and we stayed in capital city Luanda. We met when I was fifteen, that's when my mom told me the story. At first, I didn't like it because he was a boy and then didn't mind it but we never talked about our names since we were not close,
