My Story

I'm Hansen Parana, and my mother, my father, my brother and I are from Indonesia. My brother, my mother, and I moved to Chicago because my father was already living there with his grandmother. My mother couldn't work in Indonesia because she was busy taking care of my brother and me. While my father was living in Chicago, my parents thought about moving there because my mother was struggling financially and couldn’t work in Indonesia.

After many years passed, my mother, my brother, and I finally decided to move to Chicago. At first, I thought we were only going on vacation to visit my father, but it turned out we were going to be living in Chicago for a long time. At first, I was happy to live there, but as the days passed, I started to struggle with speaking English.

In the end, my parents, my brother, and I continued to grow up in Chicago, surrounded by beautiful scenery and buildings. We also met some very special people. Without my family's support, I wouldn't have been able to go to college or university. My family and I are also thankful to God for making everything possible and giving us a chance to live here. Even though we miss Indonesia, we are grateful and thankful to be able to live in Chicago.
