When I was born in 2005, my parents gave me this name and the name is Suchana. It is a Nepali word. The meaning of this name is information. It also means love and peace. There is not any story or history behind this name, but my parents liked the name, so they gave it to me.
In Nepal, naming a newborn is considered as a meaningful ritual. It is usually done through a ceremony called Nwaran (also called Namakaran) or naming ceremony. It is usually performed on the ninth day after birth. There is an astrologer (Pandit) who prepares the baby’s (Kundali) birth chart using the exact date, time and place of birth. After this process, the astrologer gives the name to the baby, so from there I got different names. However, my parents didn’t like that name, so they gave this name Suchana themselves.
Even though my astrologer gave me another name, I feel that Suchana is a unique and lovely name. I rarely heard about this name in Nepal. Growing up, when I was in school, there was no one named like me. I love how it sounds, how it feels to hear, and how it’s a name that is truly mine and stands out in its own way.
